Happy New Year to you all and we thank God that we all crossed over in good health.

So sorry I have been MIA (Missing in Action) again. Life happened.
So much happened over the Christmas period and now, I lost an Uncle in church and it was so sudden, one minute he was at my book table asking for his christmas gift and joking with my son, the next minute he was shot as he went to his car by armed robbers right in front of the church with his wife, son and grandchildren present. It feels like a dream, Uncle Sesan now rest with the Lord but he is simply UNFORGETABLE.

Well, life goes on but I hope God will enter the hearts of our youths and help them understand that it is not all about money and living the fast life and one day we will all give an account,

My exercise stopped for about 3weeks after this incidence but I am back on the streets again walking, I ate alot of junk but still managed to lose some weight.

CW - 89.5kg.
I hope to lose another 2-3kg by Valentine and to get my exercise groove back.

I hope that this year 2014 will be a wonederful year and no matter what come your way, you will always have cause to give thanks to God. Have A Blessed Weekayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-33765998273713684222013-12-19T13:35:00.001-08:002013-12-19T13:35:41.793-08:00NSVs

How are you all doing? And compliments of the season to you all.

I have been fine except for this irritating dry cough that has refused to go but all in all healthy eating plan and exercise are on course.
I decided to measure myself with a tape because a lot of people were commenting on my weight loss and I can't seem to see much difference and have lost just about 6.7kg in the past 3 months and I was quite impressed(if I do say so myself),

Starting Current Loss
Weight 99kg 92.4kg 6.6kg
Bust 46in 41in 5in
Waist 42in 37in 5in
Hips 47in 43in 4in
Arms 15in 13in 2in
Thighs 28in 26.5in. 1.5in

This showed a loss of about 17 inches and this makes me excited to go on. Just got a new heart rate monitor/pedometer/watch and I intend to make good use of it.
Losing weight is not measured on the scale alone and when there is no change or even a gain as it happened to me in the 1st few weeks, it can be discouraging.
When you exercise, you build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat but takes up less space, so you might weigh more but wear a smaller dress size. It is not just about weight loss on the scale but about a fitter and healthier you meeting new fitness challenges and eating healthier too.

My desire is to walk 70,000 steps at least weekly, run more than walk, bring down and keep down my blood pressure and cholesterol( I am off medications for cholesterol right now and hopefully never going back on it) control my oesto artritis and off course wear a size 12/14......more 14 again. What are your goals?

What are your plans for the Christmas holidays? Will tell you more about my plans in my next post.

Take careayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-16667032860532794502013-12-11T13:08:00.001-08:002013-12-11T13:08:44.749-08:00 How are you all?

I have had issues with my laptop and that is why I have been offline these days.
I seem to have lost some of my voom for exercise since coming down with a cold 2 weeks ago. initially I got tired easily but I am fine now but have not gotten my groove back for dancing at night...... I used to enjoy it so much. I still go for my walks 3-4 times a week and am out for at least an hour or more and try to compensate for the missed dance sessions.

My diet hs been so and so, I have healthy meals in the freezer but seem to crave the white carbs but so far, ao good, I am still putting in an effort.

weight as at yesterday morning was 92.9kg

I hope to be 90kg by end of the month but I wonder how I will cope at Christmas and with all the upcoming weddings. Clean eating and some cheating will come to play I guess and dancing must resume and be on point. And hope to keep the this in mind

Hope it keeps you motivated too and have a lovely week(what is left of it)

PS; Want to get an exercise DVD, heard good things about Hip Hop Abs and Juiianne 30 days shred. Any advice? ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-74270014321410686532013-12-03T02:19:00.001-08:002013-12-03T02:22:16.649-08:00Late Post I am sorry this is coming like 2 weeks late but I had some guests for the past couple of weeks and have been quite busy coupled with PHCN and Internet wahala.

So far, so good I am hanging in there and following the exercise plan, did not meet the 4 litres of water daily goal but did about 3 liters daily, clean eating was challenging for a few days last week as I was involved in the funeral of my friends mum and with the party foods etc but good thing was the hours spent walking Lagos markets and being on my feet taking care of the guests and of course, Dancing.

I have been down for the past few days but managed to go for an hour walk today and I am going to do some cooking today so that I will always have healthy food to eat especially when I get back from work. I hope to lose about 3kg this month inspite of Christmas

Current Weight is 93.5kg as at yesterday morning and my clothes are definately loose on me as I have dropped a dress size and hopefully will start 2014 at 90kg by God's grace.

Have a great week and I hope to see you soon.ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-7665970383209221792013-11-16T14:17:00.000-08:002013-11-16T14:17:06.496-08:00 This week coming to an end was not bad exercise and<strike> diet</strike> healthy eating wise.
I actually did stick to all my planned exercise and did the detox for 3days.
I walked a lot too this week, 10km twice this week and waling 6k under 1hour and even did 7.5k in 58mins on Thursday(No wonder my feet are sore).
Current weight as at this morning is 94.7kg.
My goals for next week are;

1. Maintain exercise plan and walk 3-4days, dance and do a fitness video the other days. Try and rest on Sunday.
2. Increase my water intake to 4litres a day.
3. Portion control to continue.
4. Reward myself fo going below 95kg.(A pedicure)

I decided that I will get a reward for every goal I meet and my mini goals are 5kg drop and rewards are as follows;
95kg - A pedicure.

90kg - A book.(Apt since I sell books).

85kg - A ticket for a movie or a play.

80kg - A massage and facial.

75kg - A new wardrobe(hopefully can afford it)

So, I am getting my reward which hopefully I will get hubby to pay for....hehehe.

Have a great week all. ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-12981603469814450712013-11-09T11:27:00.002-08:002013-11-09T11:27:27.410-08:00Detox Week I had a fair week and was able to walk 5k in less than 1hr consistently this past week and walked 7.5k in 1hr 26mins today.

Still working on my diet, fasted for 4days and then parties on friday, seminar today and another party tomorrow but I was able to watch my meals, not so clean but I controlled my portions.

I also danced and tried to walk around a lot rather than sitting still, I attempted skipping but ooh....... my Knees, so I am sticking to my outdoor walking/slow jogging for now.

My husband came back from a trip out of town on Wednesday and noticed a change, so did a friend who I have not seen in a couple of months.

My plans for this week is to continue with my exercises as I did last week, and as my husband has decided that he want to start a detox program on monday, I will join him for the 3 days of eating just fruits and vegs along with the fast of course( if I can cope).

Join us by taking the Detox water to clean your system and let me know how you are doing.

Current weight is 96kg, 3kg more to lose in November.Detox

Have a GREAT week ahead.ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-37889936330899131252013-11-03T12:14:00.000-08:002013-11-03T12:14:03.035-08:00Exercise Hi All,

This has been a good week for me in terms of my exercise and clean eating. I Have walked our 5k three times this week and danced everyday.

I love to dance and now I just put on my earphones and burn some calories and generally enjoy myself while sweating. The best part is that I can do it anytime of the day and anywhere.

My goals for November are;

1. Walk 5k in less than an hour. I did it in 1 hr 06 mins yesterday.
2. Dance every day for at least 30 mins.
3. Find ways to include weight training as I go along eg use hand weights as I walk.

This month we are fasting for 21 days in church and I hope to find the strength to participate as it is also an opportunity to lose weight. I seem to have had a problem with wrong readings from my scale, my new scale puts my weight this morning as 96.6kg and I start from there for this month and I hope to be 93kg by the end of the month.

I will keep you posted.

Have a great week.
What has been happening to me? I just stopped writing and due to guilt pangs also stopped visiting the blogs I follow except a few that I subscribed to on emails.Apologies to all.

June saw my husband and I losing a friend. It was unexpected and very devastating for all of us as he was such a vibrant and Healthy man but he still had a HEART ATTACK and as we never saw it coming it just blindsided us, this is the 1st time for me, that a friend will lose a spouse and I had to be there for her and kind of experienced it with her but it in the end, after he was buried, we (her friends) still went back home with our spouses.

This has encouraged me to start a healthy lifestyle for myself as I realised it was time to be serious about losing the EXTRA kilos I carry along and resume exercise which I stopped about 2yrs ago because I was bored of going alone.

I saw a doctor, had test done both blood and urine and an ECG. The result was High cholesterol in addition to the Hypertension that I have battled for years and a bit of problem with the heart. I was placed on medications and since I don't like taking drugs, I have started some lifestyle changes.

I am writing this for accountability sake,so that you will hold and keep me accountable.

My starting weight was 99kg and I have lost 5kg so far by watching my diet and I started walking and exercising again this week.

MY GOALS;
- To lose 10kg by christmas following the 8weeks 'Lose and Tone Challenge' by Zone Fitness
- To lose 27kg in total and reach 72kg by the middle of next year.
- To walk at least 12,000 steps daily.
- Learn and incorporate healthy eating habits to control Blood Pressure and lower Cholesterol,so that I can come off or reduce medication
-To start Weight Training to increase muscle mass and give defination.
- Encourage husband to join the band wagon.
- And of course wear a size 16 by Christmas and eventually a size 14.

I will try to update my blog regularly to keep you posted and to be motivated.

Love and kisses ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-31294103746987680392013-06-04T16:24:00.000-07:002013-06-04T16:24:09.571-07:00Missed BloggingHello All.

I can't believe that I wrote last over 14 weeks ago. It is so amazing how busy my life has become and it has also been so eventful.

I have missed blogging and reading other blogs but I also have been able to catch up with reading other paperback books and spending quality time with my family and friends. I have joined a women's Bible study group, and also have had the priviledge of teaching in a Women's wellness class and the bookshop and my husband's business is growing. It has not all been good news but I will not bore you with the not so good news because I trust God is taking care of the future and my path is in his hands.
I have done my blog round and seen some new ones and enjoyed my favorites ones.I hope to visit more often and continue to blog as often as I can.I have decided to ignore the power problems and the shameful show of the so called democratic governors and just want to focus on seeing my glass as half full and not half empty.

I hope for a better Nigeria and may the souls of Dana Airline victims RIP.

Hope to see you soon. ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-74827031035194233902013-02-23T20:54:00.001-08:002013-02-23T20:54:03.329-08:00Just Checking InHello,

Happy new year once again.

It has been a fast moving year for me so far and I can't believe how long it has been since I visited and put down my thoughts. But as I always say,'Life Happens'.

I hope to tell you more soon but right now, I am just CHECKING in, so that you all know that I am alive and well.

Have a great week.ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-81940453834309052532013-01-01T03:03:00.000-08:002013-01-01T07:22:17.969-08:00New Year, New Dreams?
This is so profound and true and has really got me thinking about my BUCKET LIST and some changes I need to make in my life this new year. Last year for me was good, I started several new phases in terms of Family,my Work and also my Thinking. I also faced the deaths of several loved ones, so I hope to live a better life for God this year, Love more,Care more and hold no Grudges.
What are your plans for the new year? Remember, what is Important and hold on to what is TRUE. How have you all been? I have been fine and God is Faithful,so life is Good.

I have been trying to set up the bookshop website, which I had hope will go live this month but it seems slow but hopefully soon you will be able to shop for your books,DVDs,CDs and much more from my bookshop. It has been handwork but so rewarding especially when someone gets a book they want and recommend us. By the way, we are All Books and More, so go like our Facebook page.

My older son started secondary school in Ibadan and it has been tough for me as a mum. I have always wanted my children close to me so it was a BIG struggle to let it him go but we had to consider a lot of factors. The good thing is that he is with one of my sisters who is like a mum to him and has 3 boys herself,so I get to talk to him daily and see him when ever I want. Maybe, I will even relocated to Ibadan as hubby and I are great UI alumni. And I love the slower pace of the town.

So, how are your preparations for Christmas? Visit my Facebook page and like and leave a comment and you could be the winner of a pack of 12 Christmas cards. Hurry as it is over by the 20th of dec. And you have to be in Lagos to have it delivered, free delivery if you live in Magodo,Ikeja,Ogudu or Gbagada.

Ciao. ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-21302811229595916962012-10-18T21:41:00.000-07:002012-10-18T21:41:26.709-07:00BOOK REVIEW; A Heart To Mend
I should have written this a long time ago but I guess, I had a lot on my mind.
A Heart To Mend by Myne Whitman is the romance tale of Edward Bestman and Gladys Eborah but it is much more than romance.

The setting is Lagos and as a long time eader of romance, it gladdens my heart to read a book set in my beloved and familiar environment. I was also glad to read a book written by a Nigerian and since reading romance books by Bisi Abejo in my teenage years,it was the 1st romance novel written by homegirl that I read as an adult and it did not disappoint.

Gladys is an independent woman who just came to town and caught the sight of businessman Edward, who had a lot of carry overs from his past and this colored his views to life. He chased and wooed Gladys who he could not get out of his system despite his distrust. Gladys certainly was no pushover and did not allow herself to be disrespected, she is a steady force when required and did not give up on her relationship.

I also kind of enjoyed the intrigue of the stock market, it did seem to go on and can be overwhelming but it was all woven together to create a beautiful story, the characters came alive and told their stories.

This is a wonderful book and a MUST READ and I certainly recommend it.

Ps, I could not put up a picture of the book because I can't seem to upload with this iPad ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-79178794675690586032012-10-11T15:04:00.000-07:002012-10-11T15:04:54.184-07:00HEALTH CHECKHello,

How have you all been? Good,I hope?
I have been feeling very well lately except for a few aches and pains. I was with a few friends a couple of weeks ago and the conversation drifted to our health, since we are all over a certain age(guess) we started discussing medications and recent test results.
And It occurred to me that I had not done a blood check for a while, I am hypertensive and have had issues with my cholesterol in the past and so try to do blood checks regularly.
Off I went to the lab to check my electrolytes and urea,Fasting blood sugar and cholesterol. I got the results a few days ago and I have issues with my blood cholesterol again and have to go on medication again.

It then occurred to me that we tend to take our health checks for granted, I should know better being a medical practioner and I don't even have to pay to have the tests done but I still take my health for granted, aside from my blood pressure drugs and vitamins/supplements taken daily I really don't like seeing the doctor(hands covering face in shame) and try to maintain my health based on diet and exercise.

When last did you do check your blood pressure,Fasting blood glucose and cholesterol? Have you ever had a mammogram, pap smear if you are a woman or a PSA if you are a man?

It is not that expensive and a lot of NGOs are offering the checks for next to nothing eg Cervical cancer checks for as little as N1000 and a mammogram at General Hospital at N3000.
It is important we take care ourselves as this adds value to our lives.

Yes, Life is given by God but we must take care of our God given TEMPLE. Please do take care of yourself.

God decided to shower us with the rain of Blessings(it is raining in Lagos right now). And as I listen to the President's speech on TV I can't help to pray for this nation, join me as we pray;

Dear Father in Heaven, please watch over us and our nation, may our hearts be turned back to you.
May we grow in our love for each other and let go of all tribalistic resentments but rather be our brother's keeper.
Give our leaders the wisdom to guide us aright and have our interest at heart, help them understand the need to make us secure in our everyday lives.

Help us to understand that 'The earth is yours' and we came naked and will not take anything along when we pass on,so acquiring wealth that even our great grand children cannot finish spending is of no use.
Thank you so much for loving us despite our failings. Thank you for answering our prayers IJN. Amen

Have a great week.

Ps. I could not upload a photo as I don't know how to using this iPad thing. Nothing compares to my laptop....lol.ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-52400341311803390002012-09-21T20:19:00.000-07:002012-09-21T20:19:37.535-07:00HappeningsHow have you all been? It's been a while.

I have had a lot happening on my side lately that I have not had time for to smell the coffee.

I lost a big brother 2weeks ago who has battled to live for the past 6years,it was sad and painful knowing he is no more but we also been grateful for the past few years that he spent with his family and am grateful God's will has been done in Uncle Ayo's life. I am especially grateful for the care of his wife, all her care and sacrifice to care for him,she is truly one in a million. He was buried on Tuesday may he RIP and may the God Lord remain with his wife, children, his mum and the rest of the family.

We also lost a beloved member of our family, one of our dogs, Matlock. We've had him for the past 10years,actually he was my older son's dog and he just dropped dead without being ill and the vet suspected a heart attack due to old age. It really broke our my son's heart as he was going off to secondary school the next day and my house is so quiet now, no more welcoming barks when I get home and playful wags and licks.

And finally, my older son started secondary school, another phase of life just began for us. I pray that the Good Lord will be with him as goes on this new life's journey and may he be successful in all he does. Amen.

Have a great weekend. ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-67154134793226270262012-08-16T22:38:00.004-07:002012-08-16T22:38:51.157-07:00MONEY

How have you all been?

I have been away 1st to Accra and then to the Hope Youth Corps camp for a week. It has been quite stressful, especially my trip to Accra, you see, I had to go by road as I took along some of my books for the conference and also my boys came along for the ride.

Lagos to Accra by road took about 12hours using ABC, they were so slow but I guess safety is important and it took longer coming back, we got to the Seme boarder by 6pm but did not get to the bus pack in Festac until 11pm and did not get home until after midnight.I swore never to go Accra by ABC again or come back back by road again.

The trip was FUN as well as I made the trip with my sis in law, several girlfriend and our children and we took over a wing of the guest house, The Rest Inn, they were really nice to us despite the noise the children made.

HYC camp was fun as well, it is a week long live in camp for teens and preteens. I was there last year and was so looking forward to this year's camp and it was even better than last year's camp.

So, how have you been?ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-81058694271205743742012-07-14T22:41:00.000-07:002012-07-14T22:41:00.607-07:00Is Our Reading Culture Dying?I decided to write about our reading culture today because of how it affects me as retailer of books.....lol.

As you know,(I hope) I started a bookshop a few months back and I have to read and review a number of books I sell,so, I read more and for me reading is the best part of my job, reading and forgetting my worries and the world in general is bliss.

My best customers are children, it pleases me when children come to my book tables in church on Sundays(I make quite a lot of sales this way and I get to personally interact with my customers). They are always eager to buy new books and I have seen children who save their pocket money to buy books, even my boys are reading more and are always the 1st to buy from me as soon as I get new stock. I believe we have a new generation of readers and schools are becoming more aware of encouraging reading as a past time.

Some Adults too are good customers I enjoy recommending books and reviewing with my customers.I have regular customers who come by every week and ask me to recommend a new book and they don't mind the cost.

I also have people who tell me they don't like reading and will rather watch a movie than read a book

Nigerians are not known readers and there is a lot of fears about our reading culture. I met a lady buying some gifts for the prize-giving day of a school and she did not think to buy books as gifts until I pointed it out and this is a teacher.
My questions are;
How do you see our reading culture?

What are you doing about it?

What book(s) are you reading right now?

When last did you buy a book for yourself or as a gift?

Do you read to your children? Or encourage them to read?

Would you rather watch a movie or read?

Why don't you buy books?

Does the cost of book determines your choice?

Do you buy pirated books and why?

I will be very grateful if you can give me honest answers by leaving your comments as this will help me and other booksellers.
ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2061671944948419215.post-71677252925616341162012-07-12T21:54:00.002-07:002012-07-12T21:54:39.967-07:00HelloHow are you all,

Just checking in and hoping you will have a wonderful weekend.

I also pray for a Peaceful and terrorist free weekend in Nigeria.....Pray with me on this one.Hope we will not weep over our citizens again and may God give our leaders the wisdom to lead us right. And may they have the humility to ask for help from the rigth sources when confused. In Jesus name I pray.
My last post, condoling with those who lost their lives was impersonal at that time because I did not realize that Hadiza Otegbeye whose dad lived 2 houses away from mine for 10years was in the plane.
Neither did I know that my friends, Kayode Okikiolu and Eyo Bassey were also in the plane.
Yemi Okikiolu, Kayode's wife just posted new family photo on facebook a few days before she was made a widow and 3 children fatherless, Hadiza left a husband and 2 children.

What a Waste.
All because what some people cared about is Money.

Will this country ever get BETTER? Or am I just fooling myself? All of a sudden I am questioning my husband and I's decision to remain in this country.

My husband does a lot of local travel and my blood pressure was certainly up when he had to travel to Abuja the week after the crash.
My heart bleeds for this country, is it the killings and wathon destruction that goes on every week in the North or the senseless deaths on the road?

I am no longer a believer in a better NAIJA,but I am now praying for a better Naija.ayabaodusotehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02517434492013866537noreply@blogger.com0
